To Blog or Not to Blog

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

I have found that blogging is not as easy as I though t it would be. Forgive me for not keeping up with this ministry as I ought (uh you 2 or 3 who follow me). I have found that I can do some good things here, like sharing my faith, my struggles, my needs of heart and soul. And by giving insight from some of my life experiences, I might be of help to fellow strugglers on the way.

Blogging is so new and I’m so old (cultrue wise – stop laughing) But I do want to keep trying to reach out to all any where who have a desire to know more about God and God’s love for humanity. I will willingly put myself out there for the Gospel and for you. I think that is the message of the Gospel to love each other to Jesus Christ.

There is a benefit for me … I get to feel the love of others strugglers on the way. I was told by one of my dear friends I can see the need you have for love in your blogs and it is so cool to see honesty from one who is suppose to have it all together. I promise you honesty for sure.

I have finished the Seven Deadly Sin series … you can see this on line at www.mcdfirst.org I covet your comments. After a two week vactiaon and the blessing of relaxation, new friends made, family time I am ready to get on to the next series RETHINK CHURCH. I will try to keep you up with it  here but it is best to come to the worship celebrations t McDonough First.

Thanks for understanding my ramblings today and here we go to Year 5 at McDonough and Year 2 on line with you my brothers and sisters

Love you so much

Dana

A Hidden Truth

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

There is a hidden truth in this story sent to me by Meri Tauzier. Sometimes truth is hidden in many things. It is really cool when it is shared in laughter … especially laoughter at ourselves.

Thank you Meri, and all of you enjoy and find the truth!

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.

Finally fed up, God said, ‘THAT’S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.’

So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.

They moused.

They faxed.

They e-mailed.

They e-mailed with attachments..

They downloaded.

They did spreadsheets!

They wrote reports.

They created labels and cards.

They created charts and graphs.

They did some genealogy reports .

They did every job known to man.

Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than blazes.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off…

Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.

Jesus just sighed….

Finally, the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming:

‘It’s gone! It’s all GONE! ‘I lost everything when the power went out!’ Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.
Satan observed this and became irate.
‘Wait!’ he screamed. That’s not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don’t have any?’
God just shrugged and said,

JESUS SAVES

An Opportunity

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

manyheartsHow big is your heart? How big is your hands? We have the opportunity to see just how big.

On November 7 we at McDonough First UMC and Wesley Chapel UMC will see if we can’t mingle our hearts and our hands in service to our community through our first ever Great Day of Service

Many Hearts Many Hands will be an adventure in serving God’s people with all our hearts and hand. It will be an opportunity to reach beyond ourselves and help others who have a variety of needs and challenges. It will be a time of sharing the love of Jesus Christ to everyone in McDonough and Henry County. It will be the moment where we put skin on the love of Jesus.

I want to invite each one of you out to this great day. I know you have a full scheduled and so do I. I know weekends are down times cause they are my down time too. But this is bigger than all of us and this is Kingdom work that will save lives eternally. I’m excited and pray that you will catch the excitment too.

If you have questions please contact me and I’ll will help you understand the power of this moment. Thanks for caring like Jesus.

Rain, Rain ….

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I don’t know about you but I love rainy days. I find them to be so relaxing and so peaceful. On a rainy day I can accomplish a lot. I can find a good book and read and I can catch up on my computer work (like this blog). Rainy days are just peaceful days for me.

I’m also thankful for them. I know we have had a lot of them over the last few months and many think instead of Atlanta we are in Seattle. But I remember last year when we were begging for rain. We had prayer services for rain. The State of Georgia called for a water ban and my poor yard almost died. Well God has blessed us with rain and abundance of it. So you won’t find me complaining but thanking God for all of the rain.

We tend to do that, beg, whine and complain and God answers and we are happy for a bit and then after to much of the blessing we beg, whine and complain some more. It is to me a wonder why God puts up with us. The good news is God loves us regardless of how much we beg, whine, or complain. God hears us and I believe trys to give us the best. We need to remember God sees the bigger fuller picture.

I hope we can trust God more and do so in the falling rain! God is good all the time … all the time, God is good!

Class of 2009

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I’m sorry folks I’m a bit sad thinking about our 2009 Graduates here at McDonough. I’m not sad because of anything bad, but because we are sending forth another group of young men and women into a very hard and cold world. We’ve had 18 years to do all we could for these young people and we have sacrificed so much because we have wanted the best for them. These will always be our children and we will remember changing diapers and wiping noses and helping with homework and yelling for them to do their homework. We have had our hearts shred when that boy or girl broke our children’s hearts. We have held our breath at the first hair cut to the last reading of the graduates. We are invested in these young folks!

It also make me appreciate my own children more; for not in to many years our home will be and empty nest and Sally and I will be wondering; “Did we do all we could?” I pray we can say yes. But still we will be sad to see our little ones become full adults; men and women of the world.

I’m proud of our grads here at church and I know they will go far; I just pray they won’t go far from God or to far from the church and people that will always love them.
