Class of 2009

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I’m sorry folks I’m a bit sad thinking about our 2009 Graduates here at McDonough. I’m not sad because of anything bad, but because we are sending forth another group of young men and women into a very hard and cold world. We’ve had 18 years to do all we could for these young people and we have sacrificed so much because we have wanted the best for them. These will always be our children and we will remember changing diapers and wiping noses and helping with homework and yelling for them to do their homework. We have had our hearts shred when that boy or girl broke our children’s hearts. We have held our breath at the first hair cut to the last reading of the graduates. We are invested in these young folks!

It also make me appreciate my own children more; for not in to many years our home will be and empty nest and Sally and I will be wondering; “Did we do all we could?” I pray we can say yes. But still we will be sad to see our little ones become full adults; men and women of the world.

I’m proud of our grads here at church and I know they will go far; I just pray they won’t go far from God or to far from the church and people that will always love them.
