Funerals at McDonough First United Methodist Church The death of a love one is very difficult to deal with alone. That is why the pastors and staff of the McDonough First UMC stand ready to be of service to you and your family in your time of need. Funerals afford us the opportunity to express our beliefs, thought and feelings about the death of our loved one. It gives us the chance to say good-bye and be with others who also are grieving for our loved one. Funeral ceremonies/services help us move from life before a death to life after a death. It provides the opportunity to give a meaningful final tribute to the person who has passed away. That being the case we at McDonough First UMC are committed to helping you provide a service of celebration of life. We acknowledge that by the grace of Jesus Christ this is not the end but merely the transition from the Church Universal to the Church Triumphant. For that reason we desire to have a worship service that honors God and the person we love. We encourage that the funeral be from the church sanctuary where our life is wrapped up from birth to death. Here we were baptized, confirmed or made our profession of faith in Christ. At the altar if we are married is where we shared vows. It is fitting and right to be brought back once more for the church to celebrate our life in Christ as a worshiping body. Members of the church will also find the Bereavement Committee ready to prepare a meal on the day of the Funeral celebration. This is simply another way to share our love and support. Our pastors are on call 24/7 to assist you. They are available to help you when you need to make decisions regarding funeral homes, funeral selections and arrangements.
