Music Ministry
We are blessed to have excellent music at McDonough First UMC. Under the direction of Mr. Scott Keesey we offer a variety of choral groups to be a part in the worship of God.
- Sanctuary Choir: Shares their witness at the 8:30 Worship Celebration. This is small choir of volunteers who have added so much to our 8:30 Worship. The music is easy and enjoyable.
- Chancel Choir: Shares their witness at the 11:00 Worship Celebration. This group has over 40 singers but always has room for one more. The music is challenging and runs the gambit of gospel, classical, contemporary, and traditional hymns.
- Combined Choirs: The two groups above join together regularly to present a Lenten Musical and a Christmas Musical.
There are other groups as well:
- The Festival Ringers: A Hand bell Choir that shares in worship and performs seasonal concerts. This group also travels to festivals and plays with other hand bell choirs. No experience is needed just a desire to have fun and ring a joyful noise to the Lord.
- The Praise Team/Band: Offers Contemporary music and shares in worship on a regular basis. The band is made up of those who love to sing contemporary music, play guitar or add additional percussion instruments to the band.
- Children’s Choirs: Our graded program meets in relation to our ACTS242 Program each Wednesday. Under Scott’s leadership the children learn to sing in worship and to share the joy of Christ with music and motion.
-
Children’s Handchime Choirs: Two hand chime choirs that meet during our ACTS 242 Program each Wednesday. During this program, the children ages kindergarten through 5th grade learn to read music, and perform throughout the church year.
-
Brass Ensemble: Our ensemble of Brass players; congregation members who played an instrument in high school or college, and love to continue as adults. The group is made up of 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, 2 horns, and a tuba. All those who have played a brass instrument through high school are welcome in this ensemble that plays seasonal throughout the church year during worship.
Please check the church calendar for time and place of rehearsal for each of the above music offering. Come and join us as we make joyful noise, movement, and much more to our Lord Jesus Christ.
